Macclesfield Tigers U10s...1

ON an extremely wet and heavy pitch, Egerton put up probably one of their best performances of the season showing considerable spirit and lots of skill and yet somehow managed to come away empty handed from a game they deserved to win.

Despite the bad conditions Egerton's attacking football was first class at times with great interchanges between Joe Jones, Joseph Stanley and Michael Simmons.

Egerton could have taken the lead but Simmons had his penalty well saved.

After the break Macclesfield Tigers poked in a goal in a rare attack.

This set up an exciting last 15 minutes with Egerton pounding the Tiger's goal.

Simmons hit the post twice and Jones, Stanley and Matty Stott with a couple of surging runs all went close but they just couldn't find a way through.

Egerton's all round performance as a team made it impossible to single one player out as man of the match but Stott, Simmons and Philip Gough at the back shared the vote.

In the end it was the weather that won and despite the result it was a day for the whole team to feel proud of.
