But on Monday she braved the winter weather to attend an inquest into his death only to find she will never really know why he died.
Doctors have been unable to determine what killed the fit 38-year-old who enjoyed running and going to the gym.
"All life has stopped for me since his death," she said.
"Hopefully things will now start to get easier as we can still grieve, but we can begin to move on."
Mr Anderson's body was found in his flat, in Middle Walk, Knutsford, in May.
He could have been dead for two weeks, but was not missed by his friends who thought he had gone to Scotland.
Speaking exclusively to the Knutsford Guardian just hours after the coroner's open verdict Mrs Anderson said she was relieved the inquest was over.
"It has been an agonising wait, but I'm glad it's over," she said.
"I have found it difficult to go into town since his death, but maybe it will get easier."
Mr Anderson was a popular face in the Red Cow and was often seen jogging round Knutsford.
But an injury led to a knee operation just weeks before he died.
On Monday Mrs Anderson said she believed a blood clot, as a result of the procedure, could have killed her son.
"There are risks with any operation and I am sure I know what happened to my son," said Mrs Anderson.
"In my mind he just dropped down dead from a clot, but at least he didn't suffer."
