A SECOND planning application for the Arpley landfill site has been received by the borough council, which could mean the tip being open for business 365 days a year.
This time the application deals with an extension to the hours of use of the tip which, if approved, would allow it to be used every day of the year.
The applicant, 3C Waste, wants to change the weekday opening hours to 7am to 5.30pm instead of from 8am, and until 5.30pm on Saturdays rather than 1pm.
The application also includes proposals to open on Sundays and Bank Holidays between 9am and 4pm. At the moment the tip is not allowed to open on either.
The application relates to the site as it stands and does not include the massive site extension plan.
Planning officer Gwyn Clarke said: "There are two separate applications and we will look at each one individually on its merits."
It is likely that the first application, due to its size and scale, will take months to come before the town's development control committee.
"Our statutory deadline to make a decision as a planning authority is February," added Mr Clarke. "But this is a major application which will take longer than that.
"We are giving the public the opportunity to look at the plans and February is more like the time we would ask the public to get comments in by."
