THIS weekend sees the myths and mysteries of disabilities come under the limelight.
Sunday, December 3, is the International Day of Disabled People and to mark the event, Warrington Community Health Care Trust has organised an all-day seminar on Relationships, Sexuality and Disabilities at Hollins Park Hospital tomorrow, Friday.
It aims to dispel some of the misconceptions surrounding disabled people's ability to have sexual relationships a topic which has been the subject of a five year project in Warrington.
The seminar, which runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm, has been organised by the Trust in conjunction with Warrington Disability and Information Service and North Cheshire Health.
The Trust's disability services advisor Dave Thompson said: "There are lots of misconceptions about disabled people and relationships, which is something we have been trying to approach for the past five years in Warrington - and hopefully this seminar will go a long way to clearing them up."
Anyone interested in going along to the seminar can call 664064.
PEOPLE and businesses who have excelled in providing disabled services in Warrington will be rewarded tomorrow night, Friday.
The town hall plays host to the Appreciation of Efforts Awards, which will recognise 14 individuals and organisations for their work in supporting disabled services in Warrington.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony, which starts at 7.30pm.
