I AM writing to you about the article in the GUARDIAN about 'Police to fine cyclists with no lights.'
As a cyclist I use my bike early mornings and late evenings and it was my first priority to have lights for my own safety. Surely it is down to every cyclist to make sure that they have them. So why is it, in the mornings when I go to work, there are so many cyclists without them?
Many of them belong to the Post Office. Surely a company of its stature should supply its employees with them and make sure that they are used.
I see the actions by the police as scare tactics to make you go out and buy them. Yet I have seen no evidence of the police sticking by their word, as not many police cars are seen between 5-6pm in the morning.
