IN the past month only a fraction of the planned Warrington Soccer League programme has been played.
The chaos resulting from poor weather continued on Saturday with a mere three games possible.
Once again the conditions favoured forwards rather than defenders with 14 goals scored.
The planned Guardian Cup, Depot Cup and Rylands Cup matches all fell by the wayside, but at least one James Wood Jubilee Trophy match did survive.
In the all first division tie between Sasib FC of Earlestown and Penketh United, the home side prevailed 3-1. The scorers for Sasib were Boyle, Senior and Hilam.
With all Organics Intermediates Premier Division games postponed the first division provided the main league entertainment.
Moore United's promotion aspirations took a dive despite goals from O'Dwyer and Wheldon. Vistors Winwick United improved on their recent league form with strikes from Neil, two and Mather enough to take the points.
The only other fixture took place at Widnes where home side Recreation and Sports Club FC entertained Daten Fourths in a Reserve Division Three fixture.
It has been a tough campaign for both sides but the visitors proved too strong 4-1.
The Culcheth based Daten Club has enjoyed better fortunes than most during the recent bad weather with each of their four sides able to improve the league position at the expense of their inactive rivals.
