Police crackdown on 'youth gatherings'
PEOPLE are being urged to report any 'gatherings' of youths in school or church grounds outside normal hours.
As Christmas approaches police have noted an increase in incidents of crime at schools and churches in the area.
Fears have been expressed that this will continue throughout the holidays.
Groups of youths are congregating within school and church premises during evenings and at weekends.
Police say the youths frequently visit such locations to share cigarettes, alcohol and occasionally drugs.
This can lead to damage including broken fixtures and fittings, smashed windows and lights, drainpipes and guttering.
Police say they will respond to calls as soon as possible, confiscate alcohol, take details of youths present and involve parents as necessary.
PC Ian Heywood, from the Crime and Disorder Unit at Northwich, said: "We would ask parents to consider how their children are occupying their time during these dark wet evenings.
"If your children aren't at home, please ask yourself exactly where they are and what they are doing."
If you suspect any crime is happening within school or church grounds ring 01606 48000.
