Woman needs someone to care for her pets as she fights disease

A DOG LOVER hopes to find a new home for her German Shepherds after being struck by a rare disease making her too ill to look after them.

Elaine Routledge, of Central Drive, Barnton, has been diagnosed as suffering from Al-amyloid - a rare kidney disorder.

The disease is a cousin of cancer and means Elaine must undergo courses of chemotherapy at Christie's Hospital, in Manchester, which leaves her very weak.

She has four dogs, but is hoping to find a new home for two of them.

"They are my whole life and it would kill me to let the four of them go just like that. I'm going through lots of tests and treatment and I just cannot cope with all the dogs.

"I want to find a loving home for Shrimpey and Jazz, preferably with people experienced in looking after German Shepherds, in the hope that I can look after the other two myself."

The dogs are not used to children, but have been trained in obedience classes at Delamere Dog Club.

Elaine added: "I have always been fit and active, and it's not fair on the dogs. I've got every hope of getting through this, but if I don't I want to make sure the dogs are left with a home."
