Moulton U15...2
Egerton won 6-5 on penalties
EGERTON reached the quarter finals of the league cup after a titanic battle.
Moulton had the better of the first half as their bustling style knocked Egerton off their stride.
At half-time they were one up despite some fine defending.
After the break Egerton began to pass the ball better and John Rooney scored with a fine strike and atoned for earlier misses.
Both sides had further chances but there were no more goals in normal time.
Moulton scored early in extra time and looked to have won the game.
Howard Clayton was pushed forward and equalised with a long-range shot from the tightest of angles.
Penalties followed and Smith, Cross, Duckworth, Atkinson and Clayton all scored for Egerton only to be matched by the Moulton penalty takers.
Goalkeeper Dave Browning made a save allowing man of the match Andy Hart to step up and hammer the ball into the goal and Egerton into the next round.
