CREWE FC 6 BOLLINGTON 2
AFTER weeks sat on the sidelines Crewe FC finally played a competitive match and what a result.
They handed out a footballing lesson to Bollington beating them 6-2 in the first round of the Cheshire Cup.
Adam Vickers and Dave Hanson were the heroes scoring two apiece.
Vickers got things started with a 25-yard scorcher and Hanson made it 2-0 at half time.
Vickers chased and finished a through ball from Graham Taylor and Hanson finished well to bring it up to 4-0 after the break.
Crewe were dominant and John Beresford put in the cross for Taylor to add the fifth.
At the 70 minutes mark Bollington hit back with a good goal worked from a free kick before Andy Lock hit back a minute later.
A late goal gave Bollington something to cheer as Crewe moved into the next round and a home fixture against West Cheshire League outfit Stork.
"For 70 minutes we were outstanding, but the last 20 we switched off, which is what can happen with a score like that," commented Manager Ian O'Reilly.
The reserves also put in an excellent performance notching up a 3-1 win against Winnington Park with John Scarlett getting a brace.
On Saturday first team manager Ian O'Reilly has no new injury worries going into a home fixture with top of the league Poynton.
Kick off is at 2.15pm on Saturday.
