North West Counties Division Two
Albert Park 6
Adlington 22
THIS game was switched to the Parklands after the Adlington pitch was declared unfit.
The muddy conditions suited the huge Adlington pack as they gained an excellent away win.
Adlington were the first to settle and despite the conditions tired to play open football.
Midway through the half a lost ball was collected by Adlington who moved the ball out wide for an unconverted try.
The Albert were put under tremendous pressure but superb tackling, particularly by Snowling, Deex, Yeomans and O'Neill, kept the half time score down to 6-0 after they converted a late penalty.
Within 10 minutes of the restart the game had slipped away from the Albert after the Adlington forwards had set up the platform to score two tries to race into a 16-0 lead.
The Albert were themselves playing well and a good spell of pressure saw an inside pass from Kinsey find the strong running Dave Yeomans who went over for a deserved try which he converted himself.
Not to be outdone, almost immediately Adlington wrapped the game up when a pass out of a three-man tackle resulted in a converted try under the posts giving them victory by 22-6.
Credit must go to players of both sides who produced a hard, physical game in such good spirit.
