CHRISTMAS day was ruined for a Widnes teenager after he was callously attacked outside the Regency Car Wash on Albert Road in Widnes.
The unprovoked attack happened during the early hours of Christmas Day between 12.30am and 1am.
The 17-year-old male was walking home with friends from Piccolo's pizza pantry when he was set upon by a gang from behind.
His attackers pulled the hood of his Berghaus jacket over his face and then proceeded to punch and kick him several times.
One of the blows was so severe that it knocked the teenager unconscious.
As a result, he had to spend Christmas Day and Boxing Day being treated for his injuries in hospital, where he received 18 stitches to his forehead and nose.
DC Julie Birch of Widnes CID, said: "This was a particularly nasty attack and ruined the holiday period for this young man. We urge anyone who saw anything to come forward."
Unfortunately, the victim and his friends were unable to get a good look at the attackers and can only provide vague descriptions.
It is thought that there were five or six attackers in their early 20s. They all had short hair, one is thought to have had a shaved head
The teenager attacked was wearing a red Berghaus jacket at the time of the attack.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Julie Birch at Widnes CID in strictest confidence on 01244 613733.
