AN Everton Legend has been reunited with his world cup shirt from 1986 in Widnes!
Graeme Sharp, who won numerous honours in football, both at home and in Europe with the Blues, was at the Auto Quest Stadium recently to present awards to the winners of the World and ICI Chlor-Chems Young Citizen Of The Year competition.
Everton fanatic, Ian McKnight heard his boyhood hero was attending and immediately got in contact with the World.
Ian, 27, had in his possession a Scottish jersey, with the number 18 on the back.
He received the jersey from a journalist friend who, knowing of Ian's devotion to the Toffees, gladly gave it to him.
Since then he has constantly wondered whether the shirt was actually worn by Sharp during his world cup duties.
The question was asked of Sharp during the awards night and the answer is a resounding yes!
The shirt was auctioned for charity in the 1980's and was bought by the aforesaid journalist.
Graeme duly signed the shirt and wrote a message on the back for delighted Ian.
Ian said: "I have had the shirt in my possession for ages now and have always secretly hoped that it was Graeme's because he is my all time hero.
"I would like to say thank you to him for signing it. I'm absolutely made up!"
