A CAR was gutted in an arson attack outside Runcorn FC ground in Canal Street last week.
The two litre Ford Sierra Ghia had been stolen.
The police are investigating.
Runcorn firefighters this week warned motorists to be extra vigilant.
They recently mounted a joint campaign with Cheshire police and Halton Borough Council to curb the increasing number of car thefts and vehicle fires.
Leading firefighter Ken Sharratt said: "Our basic message is 'Lock It or Lose It'.
"We would urge motorists who have a garage to use it instead of storing stuff in it.
"Also, always lock your doors, fit an alarm if possible and don't leave valuables on show in your vehicle."
