BOOZY troublemakers are being warned they will be 'pub watched' if they cause trouble in pubs in the area in the New Year.
The Pub Watch scheme has operated for more than 10 years and was started in an attempt to deal with drink-related violence in the town. It was felt the violence warranted action and almost all the pubs in Widnes have signed up to the scheme.
Andrew Bond, treasurer of the committee and landlord of the Mill Brow, said: "The Pub Watch scheme is about protecting customers and staff from violence and we work in full conjunction with the police and the Crystal Clear campaign.
"If anyone causes trouble in one of the Pub Watch pubs then they will be barred from the other pubs who participate in the scheme.
"We hope it will lead to a happier and safer New Year for everyone."
