A COUPLE who doted on each other for all their 56 year marriage have died within days of each other.
Kathleen and Harry Cleworth, of Common Lane, Culcheth, lived for each other, according to friends, and were well known in the village for their friendly and welcoming nature.
Harry, who died aged 86, had lived in Culcheth all of his life and met his sweetheart Kathleen in the Army during the Second World War.
He was a farmer originally, but later got a job as a caddy on a golf course, working for lots of famous names before joining the Army and working his way up to the rank of Sergeant.
Kathleen, affectionately known as Kay, died aged 84, just 17 days after Harry.
She had a beautiful soprano voice and was a loving home-maker.
They had spent all their married life living on Common Lane and only left the village towards the end of their lives to live at Green Park Nursing Home, Penketh.
Long-time friend Adele Kingaby said: "Harry lived for his Kay and she lived for him. They were both well-known in the village and always made you feel welcome when you visited. They were a lovely couple."
Kathleen and Harry leave behind their children Lindsay and Norman and grandchildren Sebastian, Nils and Fabian.
A funeral service and committal will be held at Walton Lea Crematorium on Tuesday, January 9 at 2pm. The family have requested that no flowers be sent.
