IT may have been that Jack Frost's first festive visit caused motorists in Warrington problems, but it was business as usual for the important services.
United Utilities incorporating North West Water and Norweb had no major incidents in the town, despite a thick blanket of snow on the ground over Christmas and New Year.
Cheshire Fire Brigade managed to cope with the arctic conditions so well that it got away without any problems and carried on with business as usual and New Year's Eve was a quiet evening without any major incidents.
A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: "The festive period was a relatively quiet period for us as adverse weather warnings went out good and early.
"As a result the traffic was lighter as a lot of people decided against making unnecessary journeys.
"A good job was done of gritting the roads and the main problems we saw were minor bumps on side roads, but because people were driving carefully, these resulted in no major injuries.
"So it's thumbs up to motorists.
"The new year was busy in the number of calls we received but they were all manageable.
"The one problem we did have was that the motorways were covered in fog at one point, which meant for a number of hours vehicles were travelling very slowly."
