Saturday 30th December, 3.15pm I have spent a frustrating time in a queue on Kingsway, not being able to see ahead to congestion on Latchford Bridge.
I thought it might be a horrible road traffic accident, as time ticked away beyond that normally associated with the bridge being open.
Eventually I got near to the front and a Ship Canal worker was waving us all over the Cantilever Bridge. I guess that they were having problems with the bridge mechanism icing up and not being able to shut properly.
Surely, in the 21st Century Warrington could say "Enough !".
This is coupled with the increase on January 2 to the Warburton toll-bridge from 10p to 12p.
With only a couple of ships moving per day (and some of those being little tugs) surely Warrington Council can "lean" on the Ship Canal Co. to be less cavalier in its attitude to road traffic.
