THE first New Year baby of 2001 to be born at Leighton Hospital was a boy from Winsford.
The youngster's arrival at 2.40am was followed by the birth of five more babies at the hospital to families from across Northwich, Middlewich, Sandbach and a second family from Winsford.
Middlewich parents Victoria Johnson and Darren Royle, of Mather Close, joined the special delivery club when their baby Bayley weighed in at 6lb 14oz, at 10.17am, on New Year's Day.
Darren said: "I was absolutely lost for words, and when I rang round friends and family I just did not know what to say.
"But it is a great start to the New Year that is for sure."
