THE Mid Cheshire Youth Football League is set for a major re-structuring following this season's nightmare fixture pile-up.
Two months of relentless rain and snow has destroyed the league programme, and with the exception of the under-11s and under-13s, all leagues have two weeks to get back on track.
The management committee will meet on January 21 to discuss alternative ways of bringing the season to a conclusion.
Some youth leagues in the country, including Chester and Wirral, have scrapped every game played so far this season and devised a quick-fire system.
In Mid Cheshire some teams have only played one game all season while the weather has driven some divisions back by five or six weeks.
League secretary Steve Hartley said: "The weather has knocked everything sideways. From the initial discussions we think the under-11s and under-13s will be finished as normal, but the rest of them we're not sure about.
"It's difficult to know what is happening but exceptional circumstances call for exceptional measures. I've spoken to a few other leagues and it seems most of them are going to have to do it."
Hartley feels permanent alterations now need to be made to the way the league is run.
Ideas include splitting the divisions up so youngsters only have to play every other week and leagues can be finished earlier to avoid interference with cup competitions.
