POLICE are hunting a robber who threatened staff with a knife - and made off with cash from an off-licence in Hartford.
The robbery happened on Saturday, December 23, when a man, with a scarf covering his face, entered the Wine Cellar, in Chester Road.
He brandished a knife, threatened two members of staff, a man and a woman in their early 20s, and demanded cash.
The intruder then went behind the counter, removed money from the till and left the premises.
He turned right towards Northwich and was spotted running at The Green in the direction of the A556.
Neither of the staff were injured but were extremely shaken by their ordeal.
No get-away car was seen.
The robber, who escaped with a relatively small amount of money is white, of slim build, 5ft 10ins to six feet tall.
He was wearing blue jeans, a navy blue coloured fleece coat, a lighter blue scarf which covered his face and a dark coloured woollen hat.
Detective Constable Craig Guildford, of Northwich Police, said: "There were no shops open at the time but there must have been people in the Red Lion pub when he ran past.
"We would appeal for anybody who saw anything to contact us."
Wine Cellar refused to comment about the attack.
