WHEN George Bunn met a young girl called Ivy at a dance on Christmas Eve 1934, he swept her off her feet.
Now the couple, of Queensgate in Castle, have just celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary and are still dancing to the tune of love.
They celebrated their special day on December 21 with a surprise party organised by their son Kevin, daughter-in-law Paula and grandchildren Hayley and Darren at the Greyhound pub, which was attended by family and friends.
The couple met at the Victoria Baths, in Northwich, and married at St Helen's Church, Witton, six years later.
George was in the Airforce so the newly weds moved to Harwell where he was stationed.
When the war was over they returned to Northwich and lived in a pre-fab over Station bridge before moving to Greenbank.
George spent his working life with North Western Buses as a bus conductor, driver and working in the offices.
The couple's great love is their sequence dancing and both are founder members of the Breakaway Dance Club which meets in various halls around the Northwich area.
So what is their secret for a long marriage?
George said: "In our day you just got on with it and hoped for the best."
