WINSFORD author John Malam has gone back in time to write a book about a modern-day television programme.
For John, who has written over 100 children's books, has written a new one in collaboration with Channel 4's The 1940s House.
The book, The 1940s House Activity Book, will accompany the major series following the fortunes of the Hymers family who re-lived war-time life for nine weeks last year.
The series follows last year's successful The 1900 House and John believes it will strike a chord with everyone.
"Everyone has some connection with the Second World War and so this will touch every family in the country in some way."
The Hymers family, grandparents Lyn and Michael, mum Kirstie and children Ben, 10, and Thomas, seven, moved from the home in West Yorkshire to a specially made house in West Wickham, London.
It had been stripped bare and the 1940s recreated, authentic in every detail, for the family to spend nine weeks re-living.
John's book focuses on Ben and Thomas and their experiences. It is an informative book that aims to engage children in the realities of wartime life through facts, photos, artwork and many activities.
"Hopefully it will help open childrens' eyes to what life was like," said John.
"The series, together with the book, is going to be huge."
The 1940s House Activity Book links to Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum and is available from all good bookshops priced £4.99. You can also order a copy from Winsford Library which John Malam will sign.
