CHESHIRE writer and broadcaster, Margaret Dignum, has written and recorded sixty of her favourite monologues.
The collection, entitled 'A Whiff of Fresh Air' has been published by former Crewe and Nantwich GUARDIAN editor Anne Loader's Leonie Press.
Margaret has been writing and performing witty monologues for more than fifty years.
In the 1990s she had her own spot on the the Barbara Adams' BBC Radio Stoke afternoon chat show, which earned her many fans across South Cheshire and North Staffordshire, and she is invited to do her recitiations at around forty functions every year.
Her book, illustrated by Hartford artist Patricia Kelsall, has a CD inside the back cover on which the author reads a sample of fourteen pieces.
Margaret was born in Winsford and has lived there all her life.
Leonne Press publishers, Anne Loader and husband Jack, set up a special branch of their business to cater for the CD aspect of the publication. The new Sleepydogdreams multimedio logo features one of their dogs, Goldie.
"We wanted people reading the monologues to know how they should sound," said Anne.
"Margaret has a wonderfully surreal imagination and an impish sense of humour. The mental pictures she paints are hilarious, and each one has a twist in the tail. They're easy listening or reading, but the simple format hides a great deal of skill," she added.
'A Whiff of Fresh Air' is priced at £9.99 and is available in Crewe at W H Smith and Ottakers Bookshop.
