ALMOST 500 would-be police officers are hoping to join the Cheshire force after a national recruitment campaign.
The majority of these potential recruits are in the early stages of the recruitment process and the response has been welcomed by Cheshire's Chief Constable, Nigel Burgess.
"Policing as a career is highly regarded in the North West, and in Cheshire in particular," Mr Burgess explained.
"Our reputation for providing high levels of training and varied career opportunities is obviously getting through to a new generation of young men and women," he added.
The Cheshire Constabulary website and also a special call centre attracted the most applicants and the response has come after a the three-year 'Could You' television campaign.
Those wishing to find out more information about joining the police force can visit the website at www.policecouldyou.co.uk or contact 0845 6083000.
