PENSIONER power is set to get underway in the spring and Warrington's older generation is invited to come along and make its voice heard.
The pensioners parliament will be held in Blackpool at the Winter Gardens on Monday, April 30, Tuesday, May 1 and Wednesday, May 2. Matters of concern to older people will be debated including the future of the National Insurance pension, the NHS, long term care, community care, leisure facilities and transport. There will also be discussions on the quality of life for older women, including the dangers of abuse of older people generally. Last year 2,000 pensioners attended the parliament. Its proceedings influenced government policies, as well as regional and local authorities and ensured that pensioners became a central issue on the nation's agenda.
