A MUM has called on the whole community to help create a much-needed recreation complex for children and teenagers in Northwich.
Carrie Laugharne, of Gadbrook Road, Rudheath, has been campaigning for two years to set up a centre.
And now she and other parents have landed a £5,000 Lottery grant - so they can carry out a feasibility study into the idea.
They are hoping to create a complex which could include:
A skating arena
Sports Hall
Sound studio and music practice rooms
Climbing wall
Nursery
Bar and restaurant
All weather pitches
Adventure playground
Part of the £5,000 will also go to the architect's fees for the initial design of the building.
Carrie set up the group, called Parents Youth Support Team Limited, after Skate Madness, in Old Warrington Road, closed two years ago.
She said: "We are hoping that this place will be somewhere that families can go.
"We are giving the youngsters something affordable and somewhere that they feel is their place."
The group holds fund-raising discos every fortnight attracting between 300 and 400 youngsters.
It is now looking for suitable land to build the facility on.
If you wish to help ring Carrie on 49991.
