WITTON Albion finally played their second group game in the UniBond League Cup on Tuesday night and did their prospects of progressing no harm with a 3-2 win at Colwyn Bay.
All the Witton goals came in the first half, David Anane getting them on their way by smashing in Paul Hennin's cross in the 23rd minute.
Charlie Boyd scored in first half injury time and there was still time for Boyd to provide Anane with a clear run in on goal to core his second before the break.
It could have been a hat-trick for the top scorer as he had already missed a 32nd minute penalty Andy Hughes brought down Lee Cox in the box but he redeemed himself by splendidly saving Anane's kick.
Steve Barber pulled one back on 65 minutes, at which point Nigel Gleghorn made three substitutions, and this had a bearing on the pattern of the match.
Bay forced some late pressure but only managed one further goal through Andy Kendrick's 30-yard free-kick.
