ST Rocco's has kicked off its latest fundraising campaign a record-breaking penalty shoot out.
The hospice's 'Going for Goals' fundraiser hopes to achieve a new world record by simultaneously having 100 venues holding a massive penalty contest.
Any place where children or adults can gather to register and take their penalties will qualify as a venue.
Each site will have an appointed supervisor who will act as a St Rocco's and Guinness World Record's official adjudicator. This person can either be a teacher or an assistant as appointed by St Rocco's, for example a sports student taking part in the event to complete practical work for their studies.
Schools will receive an official certificate stating the amount raised in total at their venue and the chance to win either a signed Everton shirt, signed pictures of premiership footballers and other prizes.
Participating children will receive a certificate, a St Rocco's badge and the chance to claim a special prize for the most money raised by an individual.
The hospice will supply all posters, sponsorship forms, certificates and prizes, all the school has to do is provide a football goal, a net and a football as well as lots of children and adults to take penalties and be goalkeepers. Children are sponsored for the number of penalties taken, not the numbers scored so inexperienced footballers needn't worry. Anyone interested in taking part in the event should call assistant fundraiser Lesley Groome on 579230.
