A CONMAN preyed on an 82-year-old woman at her home on Knutsford Road in Grappenhall on Saturday afternoon.
The bogus water board official knocked on her door at around 2.15pm claiming he was working on the house next door.
He barged past the woman and marched into the kitchen and started filling buckets and containers with water.
Then he told her to hold on to the taps until they started shaking and the woman obliged.
As she stood alone in the kitchen, the man stole property from the sideboard in the front room.
The man police are looking for is white, aged 25-30, 5ft 5ins tall, wearing a white base ball cap and and a fawn or grey jacket.
Anyone with information can contact police on 652222.
