THE number of road traffic accidents in Warrington has taken a sharp dive thanks to a rigorous campaign by bobbies in the town.
A combination of cameras, road checks and awareness campaigns has seen minor accidents drop by more than 10 per cent, although a slight increase in serious collisions has been noted.
Traffic Sgt Tony Symonds said: "Our accident rate is down for the first time in a number of years.
"We have been out enforcing speed limits and it seems that drivers are taking heed of them.
"I am really pleased with this. It's a reflection of the excellent work of the officers in this department.
"We really have been pushing and going out and getting the message across. This year we would like to reduce this even more."
