PLANNERS in Halton have lodged their objections to one of the Arpley landfill extension applications. Members of the Halton Borough Council's development control and licensing committee this week resolved to object to the application for an extension to the site's opening hours. They made the decision because of concerns that the scheme would have a detrimental impact on local residents. The move is seen to add weight to objectors' efforts in Warrington, who have launched a leaflet campaign to battle 3C Waste's application which, if approved, could see the tip operating every day of the year. Members of Warrington's development control committee are likely to consider the hours application in early spring possibly the end of February. A second and much larger and controversial application to extend the tip by 110 hectares and develop a rail link is not likely to come to committee until the end of the year.
