MP for Warrington South, Helen Southworth, says the Government's decision to call in the plans was not what she wanted to hear - but all is not lost.
Helen made a special trip back from Westminster yesterday, Wednesday, to meet the Wolves staff and assure them of her support.
"I was more than disappointed to hear the news," she said.
"It is a knock, but I think that's all it is.
"I have already spoken to the minister and asked him to ensure that the inquiry is done as quickly as possible. There must be no bureaucratic delays."
And she says the Wolves must be saved.
"The club is very important to our community. The team makes effective role models for young people, and also on the health and fitness, and education side, but more than that it gives the town a good profile.
"We have got to see that grow and develop."
And she says it is important that the people of Warrington get behind the club.
"We have got to give the Wolves our support" added Helen.
