LEADING politicians who will continue to support the Warrington Wolves and Tesco Extra store bid have been praised this week.
EX-MP Lord Doug Hoyle, chairman of the Wolves, even left his sick bed after food poisoning in the Wolves' cause.
Norman Summers, chairman of the Wolves' owners Warrington Sports Holdings, said: "He'd been lieing in bed with his food poisoning thinking about how we could move forward with our plans and he got up to phone me and tell me.
"He really is a good man for the club.
"There have been a number of politicians behind us and, on behalf of the board, I pay tribute to them. The fact that we have had a negative about the stadium and have to go to public inquiry is not down to any of them.
" In particular, I thank council leader John Gartside, Clr Mike Hannon, MP Helen Southworth, who has been first class in her support, also Brian Simpson, the Euro MP."
Summers concluded: "I must also thank the Warrington Wolves fans as they have been great through all of this."
