CHARITY fund-raisers are celebrating the sell-out success of a food extravaganza at Congleton Town Hall.
The Mediterranean evening was staged by former borough mayoresses Christine Domleo and Linda Hemsley, along with Jamie Squires.
All three suffer from the condition ME, and the event raised £1,003 for the ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Research Association.
"The event sold out, and some applications had to be declined as the town hall brasserie could take no more people," said Mrs Domleo, from Kirkstone Court.
The Mediterranean food was served by Youth in Action volunteers Malcolm Barlow, Eloise and Ben Hawgood and Gareth Maybury.
"We were surprised to hear how many local people suffer from this illness, and much of the money raised was from generous sponsorship by local companies," said Mrs Domleo.
"Many people have asked for another event next year, and several ideas are being considered."
