THIS bicycle versus motorcar conflict is becoming akin to "road rage".

The truth is, both types of transport have their place, so why argue about them?

The motorcar is comfortable, convenient and acceptable as long as it is used sensibly and not as an addiction and possible status symbol. The bicycle provides enjoyable, healthy exercise, and motorists would be well advised to use it sometimes, especially where short journeys are involved. Indeed, there are some people, including myself, who make use of both forms of transport. Cycling enthusiasts choose the bike, not because they can't afford a car, but because they care about their health and enjoy the exercise in the open air.

So let us stop this pointless argument! OK?
