FIFTH-placed Warrington Town maintained pressure on the North West Counties Division Two leaders with Saturday's win at Cantilever Park.

They achieved their ambitions of a second clean sheet in three games and banging home a handful of strikes.

With only six points separating the top five clubs goal difference may settle promotion spots at the climax of the season.

Town have conceded fewer goals than any other team and only four teams have scored more.

Basement club Oldham, a month into a new manager era with 17 new players, were saved further indignity by goalkeeper Peter Berry, who otherwise had a nightmare.

In the 91st minute he flew through the air to palm for a corner a wonderful free kick by Neil Holden following Paul Buckley's yellow card for an over zealous challenge which became red for dissent.

Earlier the post had come to the visitors' rescue from a Mike Heverin shot.

Two goals in the first six minutes had suggested the yellows were going to run riot but the faithful few on the terraces had to wait more than 20 minutes between goals.

After four minutes Paul Hives volleyed his first goal of the season below the 'keeper from the edge of the box.

Heverin supplied Moore for the second and his second in two games.

Gary Trewhitt's 33rd minute floated free kick was glanced home by Heverin, his first goal in seven games.

Tickle's 63rd minute shot slipped from Berry's grasp and over the goal line.

A minute from time Berry blocked Moore's strike but the ball fell into the path of substitute Stuart Honor for him to tap home from five metres.

Thanks to battling midfield performances by Tickle and Hives Town's defenders had very little to do throughout.
