HI-TECH new road signs which warn speeding motorists are being introduced onto the notorious Nantwich to Wrexham road.
The signs can detect the speeds of oncoming traffic and react accordingly by activating slow down messages.
The signs are both solar and wind-powered and so are also cost effective.
The first was unveiled last week near to Farndon, further down the A534 Nantwich / Wrexham road, which is notorious for accidents and deaths.
Mike Mountfield, Accident Prevention Engineer with the county council, hopes the signs will save lives.
"Traffic on this stretch of road is restricted to 60 mph, but there are motorists who persistently flout the limit," he explained.
"Past experience has shown that this creates a very dangerous situation for motorists emerging from side roads who misjudge the speed of approaching traffic," he added.
The road carries 6,000 cars a day between Nantwich and Wrexham.
