A NEW type of massage from the Orient is proving popular at a Nantwich clinic.
The massage is based on traditional methods from Thailand and masseur Roger Hounslow is learning the very different techniques.
Roger has already received a good response from clients and will soon be able to offer full Thai massages at the Weaver House Clinic in Pillory Street, Nantwich, where he is based.
Roger is five months into a six month couse which teaches him the finer points of the Thai-massages and has been taking case studies for the last few months.
Fifty-five-year-old Roger lives in Crewe and has been massaging for three years. He says the special techniques he is learning offer much more help than regular massages.
"It is much more thorough as it gets to and stretches more muscles," he explained.
"I have done around 20 case studies where I have approached people or people have been referred to me for treatment with a particular problem," he added.
Roger says he has been receiving some positive feedback from patients and is soon hoping to put the sports rehabilitation section of his training into use.
"I have been doing yoga for a number of years and the Thai massage is applied yoga.
"It uses palm pressure, stretching and bending the spine forward to relieve pain and stiffness," added Roger.
The massages are to be on offer at Weaver House in February.
