TEENAGERS and young children are to be targeted in a new 'cool' litter awareness campaign.
The idea was created by the town's refuse and street cleansing focus group, a body made up of members of the public, which was set up last year by the council as part of its Charter Mark application.
Leaflets and posters are to be distributed across Warrington in a bid to get youngsters to clean up their act.
One member of the group, John Higham, of Burtonwood, designed a series of images, all with the message that it's not cool to drop litter. The leaflets will be personalised for each area, for example, 'Keep Culcheth Tidy', and will be distributed by the town's litter wardens.
In a report to the environment committee, council officer Ivor Williams said: "The campaign will seek the help of all parish councils, shops, the town centre group Warrington Now, and schools to display the simple message signs. They will also be distributed to all council establishments such as libraries, housing offices and reception areas."
The scheme is expected to be launched within the next few weeks.
