BARNTON & Frodsham Angling Club kicked off their third and final Winter League series of six matches for the Amanda Lester Cup on the Weaver dredger length on Sunday.
With the weather conditions far from perfect and the water temperature well down, weights were always going to be on the low side.
Peg 420 close to the blue bridge car park proved a good raw for Paul Caffery as he registered bites from the off, big bronze maggot combined with ground bait feeder doing the business.
Paul's final tally of 22 fish made up of mainly small roach with a smattering of perch for 0-15-2 was a fair result on a very hard day.
Father and son duo Arthur and Ian Kenney filled second and third spots from adjoining pegs 418 and 419. Their nets were made up of small roach for 0-8-4 and 0-6-8 respectively, again taken on ground bait feeder but with pinkie as hook bait.
