KNUTSFORD Hockey Club's 2nd team extended their unbeaten run to eight games when they travelled to Sale at the weekend.
The game started brightly for the visitors as they soon found their stride and it was not long before they began to dominate their opponents.
However, chances came and went as they struggled to find the back of the net.
Knutsford did take the lead mid-way through the first half when captain Fielding's shot was saved well by the Sale goalkeeper only for man of the match Mark Yarwood to slam home the re-bound for his second goal in as many matches.
The second-half continued in much the same vein with Knutsford in control but seemingly incapable of scoring.
With the score on 1-0 the home side always believed they might steal an equaliser but some excellent defending by Howard Taylor and Phil Goldsmith ensured that Sale could not even manage a shot on goal.
The game finished 1-0 to Knutsford who were glad to take the three points home and leave them third in the table.
Next week Knutsford entertain bottom club Blackburn when they hope to rediscover their scoring touch despite missing with captain and top-scorer Fielding.
Start time 2.15pm at the Leisure Centre.
The first and third team games were cancelled due to a frozen pitch.
