A WISTASTON woman has been recognised for her outstanding work with children.
Helen Gould has been living in Wistaston for 12 years and recently became one of a select few to be awarded the title Wistonian of the Year.
The award was given to recognise the amount of work Helen has done with the children of Wistaston.
Helen, aged 42, has been involved with the Youth Committee and youth initiatives in the village and also helped to take over Wistaston Play Group, making it accessible to more people.
The kind-hearted resident became involved with the baby-sitting circle until quite recently and helps with the village's fireworks and bonfire displays.
Helen is now heavily involved with the Wistaston Players Group as Treasurer and also the Wistaston Young Drama Group.
"It is becoming really well attended and we put on a number of productions each year," Helen says.
"It helps to give the youngsters a sense of belonging and put something back into the community."
Greg Brereton, Chair of Wistaston Community Council presented Helen with her title and plaque and her name has been added to the list of previous recipients at the Memorial Hall in Church Lane.
"Wistaston is such a lovely area and there is so much going on. It has such a vibrant community," added Helen.
"I am so humbled and grateful, I never thought I would receive anything like this, seeing the children get the benefit is reward enough."
