MEMBERS of Wincham Parish Council are reserving judgement, for the time being, on proposals for a new football ground in the village.
Northwich Victoria FC wants to move from its present location at The Drill Field in Northwich town centre to an eight acre site on Wincham Business Park - just 200 yards from Witton Albion's ground.
The parish council has only received a few letters of objection to the outline planning application, mainly from Chapel Street residents who have been campaigning for traffic to be diverted away from their homes.
But following a site meeting with management officials from the club last week, parish councillor Gavin Shannon said it was too early to make any formal decisions on whether they are for or against the new football stadium.
Clr Shannon, speaking on behalf of a sub-committee which has been set up to put forward comments on the proposals, said: "We have now spoken to Vics and feel confident of the responses that we were given from them, but only time will tell.
"The application has got to go through a lot more stages and they have promised us that we will be kept informed.
"But it seems that the majority of people in Wincham are not too concerned as we have only received a few letters against the development."
A detailed copy of the committee's findings will be finalised this week before being submitted to Vale Royal Borough Council's planning department.
