TRITON hockey club's mens first team came down to earth with a bump on Saturday after their cup semi-final success.
The 1st X1 lost 3-1 at Prescot, a defeat which leaves them in sixth place in the North West Counties top division.
Triton never got into the first half of a match played on a tricky pitch, parts of which remained frozen for the whole game.
They went in 2-0 down at the break, although they rallied in the second half, and gave themselves hope 10 minutes with a goal from James Maltman.
However they were hit on the break by Prescot as they pushed forward for the equaliser, conceding a third three minutes from time.
Triton Ladies went down 2-0 to Congleton in a close game played at Alsager, the goals coming in the first half and last minute of the match.
Triton 1st X1 are at home tomorrow to Warrington, while the 2nds and Ladies have no games.
