DISTRICT council officers are looking at selling a council depot off for housing.
The Wharf Road depot in Biddulph is used for purposes which will transfer to Moorlands Housing under the sell-off of the council's housing stock.
Moorlands Housing is expected to take up a licence of up to one year, and then leave the site.
The council says it would not be financially prudent for it to continue running the depot after being vacated by Moorlands Housing.
"The long-term requirement for the depot has been analysed, and there is no operational need to retain it," said a council officer.
"Residential redevelopment is considered the best option, and the sale of the site would generate capital receipts."
