WARRINGTON Wolves' new main sponsor is backing the club to the hilts at their time of need.
The GUARDIAN's Save Our Club campaign was launched last week and Carlsberg-Tetley have stepped in with urgently required cash support.
Brand name Tetley's will appear on the Wolves players' jerseys as part of the 12-month deal which ties in the company as the Wolves' principal corporate partner.
No financial figures have been divulged but Wolves coach Darryl Van de Velde said the sponsorship entailed a 'substantial' sum of money for the Wolves and was linked in with bonuses based on performances on the field.
Gareth Roberts, sponsorship manager for Carlsberg-Tetley, said: "I think the reports in the GUARDIAN last week urged us towards making a decision very quickly in supporting the club in its plans for the future and making sure it remained an important part of Warrington.
"We already knew from the plans they have that they needed assistance from a keen sponsor and keen supporters.
"But this came to the fore recently that they needed support probably more quickly than we were doing it and we've reacted to that effectively."
