TV personality and fertility expert Professor Robert Winston wants women throughout the country to sign up for a fund-raising cycle challenge in Turkey to raise money which will improve the health of women and babies.
It will fund important work to improve prevention, diagnosis and care of women's health problems and those associated with conception through pregnancy to birth and the early days of life. Said Professor Winston: "This fantastic adventure will help women and babies locally, nationally and internationally, so I would like to invite as many women as possible to get on their bikes and join me." He will be the only man on the otherwise all-women ride called the Women for Women Turkish Cycle Challenge, in October.
The funds raised will go to the Queen Charlotte's Appeal, which is part of the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Trust.
The 370km ride starts in Gallipoli and takes in hills, valleys and forests on the route along the spectacular Aegean coast. It will finish in Ephesus where there will be the opportunity to explore one of the world's best preserved ancient sites and the capital of the Roman Empire in Asia.
