AS THE former Wire mascot for five seasons, 1968-1973, I have bled primrose and blue blood since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. I've lived in the USA since 1977, but have continued to support MY team on a DAILY basis since the advent of the internet.
Each time I return home, I make it a priority to attend a match. If it's off-season, then a stroll down Fletcher Street and Memory Lane is the order of the day. Sure, the names may be different, but the principle is the same.
Warrington Rugby League Football Club is a staple in my heart which I hope to carry to my grave. It's unthinkable that we may become ancient history for the sake of a few measly pounds (relatively speaking). I feel helpless since I now live in St. Petersburg, Florida, but if there is ANYTHING I can do to assist in the salvation of a grand part of this wonderful town's heritage, just say the word.
In the meantime, I will forward my 20 dollars (or 13 quid). Feed the Wolves!
