THE Cheshire Schools Cross Country Championships took place on Saturday in Macclesfield.
Several Warrington Athletics Club members took part representing both Warrington and North Cheshire Schools.
In the 2200 metre minor girls race Heather Roberts had a great start and stayed in the leading group throughout the race, finally finishing in third place.
Heather has now been selected to represent Cheshire Schools in an intercounties race in February. Faye Lawless was first Warrington Schools runner home in 21st place.
The junior girls race saw Lauran Stephens run well to finish 8th with Rachael Brookes having her best race of the season to gain 12th place. Both girls gained selection for Cheshire Schools.
Susan Chiverton missed the start of the race but worked hard to recover the situation, eventually finishing 20th.
Helen Cameron completed the 3800 metre inter girls race in 19th place.
In the 2600 metre senior girls race Claire Irons ran strongly, working her way through the field to finish an excellent eighth.
Kirsty Seymour ran well in her first race after illness to finish 13th and join Claire in being selected for the Cheshire Schools Cross Country team.
Warrington Athletic Club's next cross country race is the North of England Championship at Witton Park, Blackburn on Saturday.
